Announcement concerning Mark Thiessen’s departure from Rwanda

Dear Friends,

For those who were not at the RENCP meeting on January 27th, I am sorry to announce the sudden departure of the Wellspring Foundation for Education’s Program Director, Mark Thiessen.  Towards the end of last year Mark began to suffer pain, light sensitivity, and blurring of vision in one of his eyes.  After meeting various specialists in Rwanda, he was advised to return to Canada where they were able to diagnose that he is suffering from a rare eye disease.  As it will require months of treatment and frequent check-ups Mark will remain in Canada and his family will join him there shortly.  We are hopeful that he will have a complete recovery.

I am sure that many of you will miss Mark, and at Wellspring Foundation, we will miss him all the more as he was such an integral (and fun) part of our team.  I would like to apologize in advance if there are any communication gaps over the next while from our organization as we scramble to be able to successfully implement our core work even as we want to further our relationships with all of you at the RENCP.

On behalf of Jeffery Komant, Country Director

The Wellspring Foundation for Education.
