Since 2003, Right To Play enhanced the holistic development of children and youth. Pioneering the Play-Based Learning methodology, our work aims at exploring the potential of a child-centered and play-based learning approach in schools and to develop important life skills. Through different education focused projects, Right To Play in Rwanda promotes the Quality of Education by building the capacity of teachers, National trainers and education officials in Gender-responsive Play Based Learning and teaching, engaging parents and caregivers in addressing gender-specific learning needs of girls and boys, Collaborate with the government for the adoption of gender-responsive play-based learning in in-service and pre-service teacher training, improving learning achievements for girls and boys in supported schools, strengthening children’s life skills, operationalization of child-led leadership clubs and increasing participation of girls in leadership.

Currently Play-Based Learning approach is recognized by the Rwanda Education Board (REB) as a child-centered approach that is helping to effectively implement the national competency-based curriculum since 2016. Right To Play uses play as a tool to retain children in schools, increase the academic performance of boys and girls, facilitate the teaching and learning process and reduce drop outs. Right To Play resources range from various play and positive child and youth development manuals to the Play Based Learning Teacher guide lately distributed in all public schools countrywide.

In partnerships with government, civil society organizations through different platforms, Right To Play engages primary school children and youth in play-based activities that improve the Quality of Education, Gender equality in education as well as strengthening children’s life skills.
