Rwanda Aid aims to support the vulnerable and disadvantaged, especially children, helping them to develop the skills and knowledge to build a better future for themselves, their families and communities. We are keen to promote initiative, hard work, and a sense of community and our vision is to enable and empower.
Rwanda Aid creates innovative, pilot projects that act as models and catalysts for further development. We offer well directed and effective help through a team of Rwandan Managers with volunteer UK Managers in support. An example of this is our teacher mentoring scheme in Nyamasheke and Rusizi Districts. We train teacher mentors in local schools in all aspects of effective teaching, including a greater emphasis on learner centred teaching, effective differentiation and planning, good use of text books and teaching aids and good classroom management.
Working closely with the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) Rwanda Aid has supported the vocational training programme in two vocational training centres (Nkombo and Ntendezi).
Rwanda Aid also supports disabled children and teachers in mainstream schools to promote inclusivity in education.
The charity is governed by a UK Board of Trustees chosen for their different areas of expertise and for their commitment to Rwanda.
