MindLeaps is an international NGO registered in Rwanda that uses dance to develop the cognitive and social-emotional learning skills of vulnerable youth. MindLeaps has directly served over 900 vulnerable youth this year. The MindLeaps Center, located in Kigali, Nyamirambo, serves 90-100 vulnerable youth daily, and our extension programs in Rwanda’s six refugee camps and rural Masoro have served another 800 children. The youth benefit from several services, including a dance program to improve mental and emotional development, and academic catch-up program, digital literacy classes to improve their academic performance, sexual reproductive workshops, school sponsorship (formal education and vocational training), and a meal program in which kids eat daily porridge and lunch. In addition to the direct youth beneficiaries, MindLeaps supports and strengthens the families of these youth and those in the community through Self-Help Groups.
